We are an independent micro-press specialising in speculative fiction and non-fiction. We are anti-AI (where it is used to replace creative practice), with a non-commercial focus and a concern for quality and ethics. You can find out more about all this here.
Publishing and Creative Professionals
If you are a publishing or creative professional working on a freelance basis, please get in touch, detailing your standard rate, past experience and providing links to examples of your work. If we think you are a good fit, we will keep your details and let you know if anything suitable arises. We are especially looking for:
- editors/copy editors/proofreaders: please state rate per 1,000 words
- illustrators/artists/designers: rates for cover illustration/design and interior illustration
- formatters/typesetters: rates per 1,000 words for ebook and print
- audiobook narrators/producers: rate per finished hour (PFH), and any proofing and mastering this includes
- book marketers: rates, experience and methods
- translators: languages translated to/from, rate per 1,000 words
Paid work will include titles published through WoodPig Press, as well as freelance publishing services provided to indie authors and other publishers (for which we take no commission fee from the freelancer). NOTE: WPP is not a vanity press, and charges no fees for titles published under its imprint.
Readers and Reviewers
We are also looking for book reviewers, bloggers, ARC and beta readers. NOTE: This is not a paid role. Those involved receive complimentary book copies in return for feedback or fair and honest review; beta readers also get a mention in the final published book.
