Shane Young was a twitchy kid who found in drums the ideal outlet for nervous teen energy. He played professionally for a few years, and had a ball.
In more recent years he has been co-writing songs, and discovering his ability to craft a decent lyric, having spent decades quietly writing fiction on the side and being hungry for any book about writing.
The hunger led to his first novel, Hand Smacks Mouth, which draws from a recurring escapist daydream he had as a child with Tourette’s Syndrome, and extrapolates into a full-blown post-apocalyptic road-trip across Europe.
Shane was once a professional photographer too, and went on to teach both photography and drumming, like a mad human octopus.
He currently lives in Gloucester with his wife and son, a full heart and a full bladder.
